Hidden Japan Cities builds structured, source-backed profiles of Japan's long-tail municipalities — towns and small cities over 10,000 people, plus selected sub-10,000 high-signal towns — from a Japanese master database where each claim is tied to an official or semi-official source, not general knowledge. It covers what human-edited travel media rationally skips.
The same database is built to power multilingual content, comparisons, and structured local intelligence. The town guides you see are one output of that database, not the whole product.
What this is
- A Japanese master database is the core asset. Every claim is atomic and tied to a source; the site and articles are derived outputs.
- Coverage favors the long tail. The focus is municipalities that mainstream travel media skips, not the well-covered headline cities.
- English is localization, not direct translation. Framing is re-shaped for the reader while the facts stay identical to the Japanese base.
What this is not
- Not AI-written general knowledge. Facts without a source are not added to the database.
- Not an affiliate-first travel blog. There are no affiliate links, and images are used only with cleared rights.
- Not finished. Guides are published municipality by municipality as each database record is ready, and no page carries an approved photograph yet.
